The day has arrived for the new healthy homes standards to begin moving forward towards implementing the required improvements and regulations. So where does this leave you and what do you need to know?
From 1 July 2021 all new or renewed tenancies will have 90 days from the start of that tenancy to be considered fully compliant. This does not mean that all properties need to be fully compliant yet, the final date for all private rental properties to be fully compliant is 1 July 2024. Depending on the movements of current tenants this will result in many properties having different dates to which they will need to comply by.
For example, a new tenancy starting on 15 July 2021 will need to comply by 13 October 2021.
The Healthy Homes Standards revolve around five core aspects relating to:
- Moisture ingress and drainage
- Draught proofing
